Official Records and Custody Contacts
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is the correct starting point for current county jail status and Sheriff-held booking material. The business and Records address is different from the custody mailing address.
San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office7000 Michael Canlis Blvd.
French Camp, CA 95231
Non-emergency: (209) 468-4400
Jail Records and 24-hour information: (209) 468-4562
Records questions: (209) 468-4408
Records hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Custody questions: available 24 hours
Choose the office by record type. A jail line cannot replace a police report, and a court case file does not automatically include the Sheriff’s booking photograph.
- For a mugshot or booking record, use the county booking hub, then request any identification photo not displayed in the official roster from Sheriff Records. The Sheriff’s public-records form is optional, not mandatory.
- For a warrant check, follow the identity-specific process through Sheriff Records or San Joaquin Superior Court described under Most Wanted Fugitives. The county has no verified anonymous online warrant portal.
- For someone just booked or recently released, search the Sheriff’s rolling Who’s in Custody Booking Log. It offers windows from one through 24 hours, while the separate Sheriff Activity Log retains preliminary incident and arrest entries for 30 days.
- For current custody, a tentative release date, or a status alert, use Who’s in Custody, call the 24-hour jail information line, or use California VINE. A missing roster entry does not show that a charge was dismissed.
- For John Zunino Jail Complex custody mail, use 999 W. Mathews Road, French Camp, CA 95231 with the required inmate name and booking details. Do not send a records request to that custody address.
- For a person committed to California state prison, use the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s CIRIS offender search. CDCR, not the county jail, controls its records and photo policy.
- For federal prison or immigration detention, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. Those systems cover separate federal populations.
